10 C flour

1/4 C sugar

1/3 Baking Powder

3 t Salt

2 C Crisco

Mix Flour, Sugar, Baking powder, and salt together. Add Crisco, and cut it with the pastry cutter.

You could also make biscuits with this recipe. Preheat the oven for 350. When you are done mixing everything, you just add some water until it looks like enough, or is not dry.

  1. Do you think this would work with something substituted for the Crisco? (butter or coconut oil)?

  2. I have not tried anything to substitute except the cheaper brand of shortening. I found it to be may less superior so we went back to spending the extra for the higher quality. You could always try and let us know how it goes!

  3. Can you store this after making it or do you have to use it right away? If you can store it, does it have to be refrigerated or can it sit in the pantry?

    Thanks!

  4. We use it up so fast, it hasn’t been an issue. I think the recommended is within 6 weeks it should be used if placed in an airtight container in the pantry.
