About Living Stones
The Bible has a good deal to say about the heart of man. It directs the man, it is desperately wicked/sinful, and even those who call themselves the people of God can be hard hearted toward God so they don’t hear Him or obey Him. These have hearts of stone. Matthew 19:8
Jesus graciously chose us. He gives life even to stones! The term “church” in Greek is defined “out of, the called” The church is comprised of those whom Jesus called out of the world. This is physical and spiritual. We are to separate from the world. You may work on your toilet drain, BUT YOU DON’T LIVE WITH IT OR IN IT! Romans 8:28-30
When Jesus made his triumphal entry into Jerusalem, the people cried out Hosanna in the highest. The Pharisees wanted Jesus to rebuke His disciples and He answered; “I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out.” Luke 19:40 Without Jesus we are worse than dead, we are destroyed. We are worse off than stones on the ground. We choose to remain a cold hard hearted stone.
Jesus died on the cross to reconcile us with God because of His love for us. Gods’ wrath against sin had to be paid for. We are sin. We choose sin. Gods’ wrath is then directed at us when He settles accounts. Jesus deflected His wrath against us and took it on Himself that we might be reconciled to God. Isaiah 53:4-12, 1 Corinthians 15:1-34
Jesus did not just wind up His followers and let them go, He gave a helper, His own spirit to guide us that we also might be identified with Him, that we would have His identification as favored children of God. John 16:7-15
1 Peter 2:1-10 This is significant! We are indeed stones but in Christ Jesus we are Living Stones! We are being built up into a spiritual house, a holy priesthood to serve Jesus Christ who bought us. This is indeed a great privilege for mere stones! We are the people of God! Amen!
