Breadmaking
Today, around 1:00 PM, I started (with the twins) to make 3 batches of bread. So, we will have in all, 6-9 loaves of bread!! Right, now, they are doing their sponge rise, the first rising. I’ll post the recipe here for it. We got the recipe from Char H.
Great Grandma’s Country White Bread
.
Ingredients:
1 TBS. sugar
1 TBS. yeast
2 c. warm water, divided
2 tsp. salt
3 TBS. margarine
7-8 c. flour, divided
.
What to Do:
In a mixing bowl, combine sugar, yeast and 1/4 c. warm water. Let stand 5-10 minutes.
In a small bowl, mix 1 c. flour, salt, margarine, and 3/4 c. warm water; add to the yeast and mix well.
Stir in the remaining 1 c. water with 4-5 c. of flour (stirring vigorously) or enough flour so that the dough forms into a ball.
Sponge rise until dough is doubled in size.
Turn onto a floured surface and knead 5-10 minutes, adding additional flour as needed.
Place in a bowl and let rise until double.
Punch down and shape into 2 or 3 loaves. Place in loaf pans. Let rise until double. Bake at 375* for 30-35 min. Enjoy!

Also, somewhere here in MT (I am not exactly sure where, but somewhere west.. near Helena) there is a fire, and we can smell the woodsmoke all the way here! way in the east!
